Quick Hits
-The Colts are going to go 0-16. Has one player ever meant as much to a franchise as Peyton Manning does to the Colts? Reports continue to circulate that Manning's neck is not healing as expected, from the outside looking in I have to wonder if Manning hasn't already played his last down. I'm certain Jim Caldwell is coaching his last season as a head coach in the NFL.
-Matt Leinart is stepping into a perfect situation in Houston. The Texans boast the NFL's best rushing attack, a much improved defense and should be getting Andre Johnson back after the bye. I don't expect amazing numbers but I believe the Texans can still win the AFC South with Matt Leinart under center.
-Is the entire AFC West sucking for Luck? Playing for Al Davis, the Raiders might be the only team even trying to win this division. The Broncos are running an offense that is outdated in HIGH SCHOOL football with a quarterback that needs to be praying for talent. The Chargers are in some kind of funk that is beyond words. San Diego consistently finds a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The Chiefs season was over before losing Matt Cassel for the season. I'm starting to believe all the rumbling about Todd Haley's job being in jeopardy.
-The Bears are coming off as a cheap organization that doesn't take care of it's people. If Matt Forte hasn't earned a new deal then nobody in the league has. Pay the man.
-John Fox will be getting a new quarterback next season.
-The Chiefs are more likely to be getting a new coach and sticking with the same quarterback. Like it or not Chiefs fans.
-I hate to talk too much about my Chiefs, but it's my blog so I'll do it anyway. Kansas City needs to replace Barry Richardson. Immediately. Richardson might be the worst starting right tackle in the NFL and will be protecting the blind side of new starter Tyler Palko. Good luck Tyler.
-Reports have surfaced that Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is broke and living off a credit card provided to him by agent Drew Rosenhaus. Jackson was inactive for Sunday's loss to the Cardinals due to violating numerous team rules including missing a special teams meeting. Jackson needs to get his head right or the Eagles could very well let him walk after the season.
-DeMarco Murray is the real deal in Dallas. Jason Garrett is not.
-I'm going to go ahead and call Blaine Gabbert a bust. Didn't like him before the draft and haven't seen anything to change my mind. Before too long the Jaguars will be needing a new city, coach and quarterback.
-Mike Smith did the right thing when he decided to go for it on 4th and inches against the Saints. There is no reason to give Drew Brees the ball in overtime when you only have to pick up inches. The play call should be called into question but the decision to go for it was a good one.
-The Bears are for real and may have more staying power in the NFC than the Lions.
-Did the Ravens forget that they have Ray Rice? Stop trying to be Green Bay and run the ball.
-With all the Matt's dropping at quarterback, Lions fans have to be concerned about the injury prone Stafford. Matt's get injured in threes.
-Has everybody noticed that John Skelton is playing far better than Kevin Kolb ever has? I never understood the Kolb hype, Andy Reid made another quarterback look good and then found a team to overpay for him. This is Reid's favorite move people, he's done it before.
-Who are the Dolphins going to select with the number 2 pick in the draft? Dolphins fans not only have to deal with a bad football team, they also have to deal with the fact that even this wasn't bad enough to land Andrew Luck.
-Eagles fans are upset about the lost season but they should have seen this coming. How many times have they watched Dan Snyder do this to the Redskins? You don't win championships in free agency Philadelphia.
-Green Bay is head and shoulders above the rest of the league. Aaron Rodgers is having the best season by a quarterback in the history of the NFL. Enough said.
-I'm buying into the Ochocinco hype. I believe Chad will have an effective second half and be the deep threat the Patriots offense has been lacking.
-Hard to take the Ravens seriously after the last month of football.
